WORDS BY PACINO718
ARTWORK BY FRANK MILLER
The Spizzy has been referred to as the Grand Theft Auto of blogs. Well I’m about to give this wretched hive of scum & villainy another tagline right now.
The Spizzy is also the Sin City of blogs.
Although it’s just as grimy I’m not referring to Las Vegas this time. I’m referring to the series of classic graphic novels by Frank Miller, a few of which he and Robert Rodriguez faithfully adapted into the 2005 film, Sin City. With his creative genius and unique art-style, Miller revolutionized the way comic books were done. He brought a level of maturity, grit and darkness to the genre unlike any artist before him. Batman: The Dark Knight and Elektra are two of Miller’s greatest and most influential books but the gangsta Sin City franchise remains my favorite.
To celebrate my latest self-proclamation there are some treats below the jump. Select pages from Family Values, one of the seven Sin City graphic novels, are posted for your viewing pleasure. The pages I’ve chosen feature stoic anti-hero Dwight (played by Clive Owen in the flick) and beautiful-but-deadly Mio (played by Devon Aoki) catchin’ bodies. There are also download links for five Sin City graphic novels: The Hard Goodbye (featuring the brutish Marv), A Dame To Kill For, That Yellow Bastard, Booze Broads & Bullets and the aforementioned Family Values.
Fans who are familiar with these great graphic novels may want to revisit them. Those who enjoyed the movie but are unfamiliar with the books may want to discover them. The next film, the oft-delayed sequel Sin City 2, is rumored to contain stories from both A Dame To Kill For and Booze, Broads & Bullets. So now is your chance for a sneak preview.

i never seen something like this before thank you for exposing me to this
no doubt. these comics ain’t for kids. i only fuck wit hardcore shit.
if you appreciate clever writing, you’ll dig frank miller’s joints. for my 1st trip to japan, i copped all of the sin city graphic novels to read on the 14-hour flight. never read ‘em b4 that. once i started readin ‘em, i couldn’t put ‘em down. i ran thru ‘em all in the first few hours of the flight LOL.
here’s some trivia, although it ain’t the best example of frank miller’s skillz: he wrote the script for the movie “robocop 2″ (hey, every great artist is entitled to one bad project… look at nas).
if you ain’t seen “sin city” the movie, peep it cuz it’s exactly like the books. and some of these joints i posted will be in the sequel, if it ever drops. “sin city 2″ is like “cuban linx 2″ when it comes to release dates.
