PHOTOS BY SUNDIATA ACREE a.k.a. THA SNYPER
Despite Mayor Goonberg’s mission to make NYC a bland place, there are still some reminders of the city’s vibrant culture. The rooftop of Seward Park High School in L.E.S., blanketed with impressive works of graffiti art, is hallowed ground. For the past four years, notable graf artists gather atop Seward to leave their colorful mark. The annual event is called Rooftop Legends and this year’s paint-a-thon was extra significant: Graffiti legend Kase 2 passed away in August, only months beforehand. There are many krylon tributes to the pioneer at Seward Park, including the piece above, which was painted by Kase’s TFP Crew.
Tha Snyper was on location to document the re-painting of this awesome gallery.
